Squilchuck Rd. Closed After Semi-truck Collision

Chelan County Sheriff(CCSD) - Sheriff
Mike Harum reports on June 30, 2008
at 10:00 AM Deputies responded to a report of a one Semi-Truck collision on
Squilchuck Road near mile post 2, just above Pitcher Canyon Road. Reports were
received by Rivercom that it was a fuel tanker however, upon arrival it was
determined to be a Dump Truck pulling a Dump Trailer loaded with dirt and
rocks. The Wenatchee Fire Department, Douglas County Fire Department district2,
and Chelan County Fire District #1 also responded as the truck had caught fire
during the collision.
Chelan County Sheriff(CCSD) - Sheriff Mike Harum reports that on Saturday,
June 28, 2008 at approximately 2048 hrs. the Sheriff's office received a call
of an overdue hiker at the Minotaur Lake Trailhead. The reporting party, Andrew S. Robinson was reporting his
daughter overdue from her hike at Minotaur Lake. Mr. Robinson said his daughter, Anna Joy Robinson, left home about 1000 hrs. for a hike at Minotaur Lake.

Chelan,WA - Now that warm
summer weather is here, the Chelan Library is bringing a piece of the
Arctic to the valley with an evening of study focusing on polar
bears. Children will learn about the polar bear's habitat, food
sources and life cycle, as well as look at environmental factors that
have led to the polar bear being listed as a “threatened” animal
under the Endangered Species Act.
Spots &
Stripes Fur-Ever, a new youth program of the Chelan Public Library
aimed at fourth- through eighth-graders, makes its debut on Tuesday,
July 1st at 6:00 p.m.

Lawmakers
will explain property taxes, answer questions
Olympia,WA - With new
property tax valuations hitting Chelan County homeowners' mailboxes, Sen. Linda
Parlette and Rep. Cary Condotta will participate in a public forum on property
taxes June 24 at 6:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at Chelan High
School.
The meeting is organized by GoLakeChelan.com and the Lake
Chelan Chamber of Commerce. Topics will include future property tax changes as
well as tax and budget trends.

County Sheriff Mike Harum reports on
June 15, 2008 at 5:58 PM Deputies were dispatched to assist Emergency Medical
Service at 100 Santana
Drive, Manson. RiverCom reported a 60 year old male
had been beaten severely and was currently in stable condition.
Deputies
arrived within minutes to find John Newell 64 year old sitting on the porch of
the residence with sever injuries to his head. Newell indicated he was
assaulted by two males earlier in the day.
