Manson, WA - A public meeting was held Wednesday evening at the Manson Grange Hall to discuss the Manson Community Council elections, the Manson Boulevard Improvements Project and the downtown sidewalk and road-widening project.

Lanny Armbruster started the meeting and discussed the upcoming elections for Manson Town Council.  He stated that elections are held the first Monday in December, which will be December 4th of 2006.  To be on the ballot all that is required is 10 signatures from registered voters in our district.  Buell Hawkins was on hand to show his support for the Manson Community Council.

Gregory Pezoldt PE, Director/County Engineer and Gary Owen, PE Assistant County Engineer opened discussion on the Manson Blvd. Improvements Project.  Citizens voiced their concerns over how the project may affect their properties.

Louise McAllister, who lives on Manson Blvd, is worried about the project taking too much of her land.  "I don't have much to give!" she said.

Gary Owen outlined the project and went into detail about right of way, slope of the road, and possible solutions for the Daisy Way/Topaz Cove stretch.  He also stated that the project design was 80-85% complete.  The current construction is scheduled for 2007 and costs are expected to go over the $2.7 million mark because of storm water and retaining wall issues.

Brett LaMar and Larry Hibbard put together the plans for the sidewalk improvement project that will reach from downtown to Quetilquasoon Rd. Gary Owen referred to it as "Q Street" for short.  This is funded under the Traffic Enhancement Program with a budget of $155K.  It was mentioned that the project would most likely cost more.

The design process starts in May 2006, which will require DOT approvals.  Construction will not start until 2007.
