Manson, WA - On August 30th, Chelan County will be mailing out ballots for a vote on a levy to support the growing financial concerns of maintaining Manson parks. If passed, the levy would increase property taxes by 38 cents per $1000 of assessed property value. The expected income from the levy is approximately $122,000 for the 2007-2008 year.
The Old Park is a local favorite for dog owners
Manson Parks Manager, Lanny Armbruster stated, “The parks are aging and take more funds to simply maintain what we have in proper condition.” The Manson Parks Department maintains approximately 43 acres of local park space.
Some citizens are concerned about the proposed tax increase. "It seemed the emphasis on spending the Bumgarner money was on the boat slips. I was assured this was so the fees would fund the rest of the park maintenance", says mymansontoo, a poster to the MVT forum.
Ballots should be completed and mailed before September 19th.
