Special Interest - Today is the 5th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and an unknown destination that ended in a field in Philadelphia. An anniversary that has left in it's wake the toppling of Afghanistan's Taliban government and the fall of Saddam Hussein.

We remember this day with horror and sadness for the innocent lives taken by the unprecedented terrorist act carried out by Al-Qaeda under the direction of Osama bin Laden. The terror has not ended as Al-Qaeda has claimed responsibility for 17 other terrorist attacks since 9-11.
Because of the United States' foreign policies with Israel through continuing military support that has claimed the lives of innocent men, women and children in the Middle East, Al-Qaeda feels justified to fight back the only way one can fight a super-power - through terrorism. The exchange of innocent lives for innocent lives of others magnifies the horror and complexity of the current situation.
We as Americans feel a patriotic need to defend our position as a freedom loving people extending our helping hands to the world. But such help is not always welcome from those who feel they may loose power. If anything can be learned from the September 11 attack, it is that there are real problems created by change and those changes should be thought out more thoroughly before acting. When ideologies collide, the solutions are but two: wipe out one of the ideologies or find compromise.
