Chelan, WashingtonCome enjoy the great fall weather at Lake Chelan with “Apple Pie and Scarecrows” at FIRST FRIDAY on Friday, October 6th from 6 PM to 9 PM in downtown Chelan.  The Historic Downtown Chelan Association and Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce sponsor this special event the first Friday of every month.   

 

This First Friday will feature entertainment, fun, specials and art downtown.  The Washington Apple Education Foundation is sponsoring an apple pie contest.  Bring your special apple pies to the corner of Woodin and Emerson in front of Chelan Realty between 6 pm and 7 pm, judging will be at 7:15 pm and then pieces of pie will be for sale.

 

…and Scarecrows!!  Vote for your favorite scarecrow on display up and down Woodin Avenue.  A special thanks to Marson and Marson Lumber and Chelan High School’s Woodshop for providing the frames.  See imagination at work from Chelan’s High, Middle and Elementary Schools, the Chelan Valley Independent School, the Red Hat Society, Youth groups and more as they decorate the scarecrows.  Prizes will be awarded after the November 1st Friday.

 

The Museum will be open and will feature the trio, The Three Amigos and the Culinary Apple will present Wenatchee singer/guitarist, Jim Webb.  The always-popular Marimba Band from Morgen Owings Elementary School will be back entertaining on the street.

     

The 100-year-old Episcopal Church will be open, food donations and cash will be accepted for the Chelan Food Bank.   P.E.O., a philanthropic organization focused on providing women with increased opportunities for higher education, brings back their popular bake sale.   Soroptomist of Chelan, a women’s service organization, will set up with information on the 8th Annual Chelan Chase, a 5k walk/run set for October 21st with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society for Research and to LCCH for free mammograms.

 

Main St Gallery’s Artist in Action series welcomes Doug Hunt nationally recognized artist from Oregon, painting in oil pastel.   And again this month student art will be shown beginning First Friday and throughout the month at each of the following businesses; Aston’s, Carol’s, Culinary Apple, Main St Gallery, Shirt Shop and Woven Threads.  

 

Campbell’s House Café will feature a free appetizer with the purchase of two dinner entrees.

 

FIRST FRIDAY is a special event held in Chelan’s historic shopping district the first Friday of each month from 6 – 9 pm.  Participating merchants offer FIRST FRIDAY specials.  Come see your friends and neighbors and experience the fun of downtown Chelan as we move into fall in the Lake Chelan Valley.  If you have questions regarding this special event please stop by the Chamber office at 102 East Johnson, Chelan, visit our website lakechelan.com or call on 509-682-3503.
