SITUATION REPORT: #061107-02
Prepared by: P. Lonergan EOC Manager: M. Agnew
State #: 06-3338 County #: 06-
C13890
Date: 11/7/2006 Time: 13:50 6
1) GENERAL SITUATION:
Flooding of rivers in Chelan County has continued with most rivers continuing to rise.
National Weather Service has advised that some gauges high on the tributaries have
started to show some drops. This may indicate that the tributaries are beginning to empty
out. If this is the case, it will likely be 1800 hours until the Wenatchee River at the
Peshastin Gauge starts to show dropping levels. Until the tributaries empty out, the
Wenatchee River is likely to continue to rise.
Sandbags will continue to be available until 7:00 PM tonight at the following locations:
Chelan County Public Works – Wenatchee Shop (210 Easy Street in Wenatchee)
Chelan County Public Works – Cashmere Shop (5815 Westcott Rd in Cashmere)
Chelan County Fire District 3 (228 Chumstick Rd in Leavenworth)
***** Not updated*****
Significant precipitation on the East Side of the Cascade Crest has resulted in significant
runoff. This runoff has caused several rivers in Chelan County to reach flood stage. At
this point it is expected that the rivers will continue to rise this morning and potentially
crest sometime the afternoon of 11/7/06. The current precipitation being released over
the crest should be the last wave of precipitation in this storm. A small mud slide
occurred on the North Shore of Lake Wenatchee yesterday afternoon causing minimal
damage. Several bridges and culverts have lodged debris in them, County Public Works
is monitoring. Currently significant flooding is occurring on the Stehekin River, White
River, Nason Creek, Little Wenatchee River, Icicle River, and Wenatchee River. Most, if
not all, of the previous rivers are currently in flood stage with flood watches in effect.
Sand bags are currently being deployed across the county.
People picking up sand bags can either fill them with sand there, or supply their
own fill. Volunteers will be available at the county shops to assist in filling sand
bags. For additional information, please contact Chelan County Emergency
Management at (509) 667-6863.
