Chelan, Washington – The Lake Chelan “Winterfest
– Fire & Ice at the Lake” is celebrated on Martin
Lutheran King Holiday weekend, January 12th through 14th. The Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce is
organizing Winterfest with the help of local citizens, businesses and
organizations.
This year’s Winterfest promises to
be bigger and better than ever. We have
lots activities for children and adults.
The Lake Chelan Snowmobile Club will be holding their annual snowmobile
drag races on Saturday and Sunday at the Don Morse Park. Most of the Winterfest activities will take
place at Don Morse Park in Downtown Chelan including the snow sculpting
contests, keg toss, chili feed, and kid’s activities. Saturday evening begins with the Torchlight Parade, followed by
the Polar Bear Splash, Bon Fire and ending with a great fireworks display.
The event begins on Friday with “Fire
and Ice” Specials in various downtown businesses and entertainment at The Vogue
– A Liquid Lounge. Several ice
sculptures will be displayed on the downtown corners and the Ruby Theater will
have a variety of movies for families to choose from.
Saturday events begin at 10 am at
Don Morse City Park with kid’s activities (indoor and outdoor) for ages 12 and
under. Snow sculptures will begin at 10 AM and judging will take place at 3:00
PM. Saturday evening at 6:00 PM,
decorate yourself, a friend or float in lights and march in the Torchlight
Parade through downtown Chelan to the Don Morse Park. The Community bonfire will provide some warmth to those brave
people who participate in the Polar Bear Splash. The Winterfest Fireworks will start immediately after the Splash
with all of the festivities ending around 7:00 PM.
The Lion’s Club is sponsoring the
Community Bonfire. Christmas Trees can
be dropped off at the Chelan Marina parking lot. Please look for the signs indicating the approved drop-off
location. Trees must be stripped of all
ornaments, lights and tinsel. The
Lion’s Club will begin picking up trees prior to Winterfest.
Pledge forms for the Polar Bear Splash are available at the
Chamber office and all proceeds go to the Chelan Teen Center.
The Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce
will be holding the annual Chili
Cook-Off and registration begins at 12 Noon at the Chamber’s Visitor
Center. Registration forms are also
available at the Chamber office.
