Manson,WA (MVT) - Manson Elementary sent a team of Science Students from 4th to 6th grade to the Science Olympics held at Eastmont Jr. High on Saturday, March 17th.
The Team spent 5 weeks in an after school class preparing for the Science Olympics. The students also put in a lot of hours at home getting their projects ready or perfecting their science abilities. Coaches for the event were Tim Bombaci and Kristen Nelson, teachers at Manson Elementary. The coordinator was Terrie Carleton.
The event was hosted by the North Central Washington ESD and sponsored by the PUD. This was a 4-county event. Competing schools were from Chelan, Douglas, Okanogan and Grant Counties.
The Science Olympics consist of various science events, such as an egg drop, mousetrap vehicle, tennis ball catapult, structure building and science investigations. Students participate in three events each. Points are accumulated by how well students do in each activity. These points are then added into a total team score.
This was Manson's third year attending the Science Olympics. Many of our students received 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place ribbons for their various events.
At the end of the day, Manson took home the 1st Place Team Trophy!
