Chelan County Sheriff - Sheriff Mike Harum reports on October 1, 2007 the Sheriff’s Office responded to the call of an alleged assault, reportedly to have occurred in Chelan on September 27, 2007.

A family member of the alleged victim, Darrell E. Shepherd, 55 of Chelan, reported he had been admitted to Central Washington Hospital on September 27 with internal bleeding, due to an assault.

Chelan County Sheriff’s Detectives responded to the report, and after a thorough investigation determined the alleged victim was not assaulted, and had apparently died of severe, existing health issues.

Chelan County Coroner Wayne Harris will conduct an investigation into the exact cause of death.
