This followup to the possible assault/death was sent to us by Wayne Harris:
An autopsy was
conducted today at Central Washington Hospital by forensic pathologist, Dr. Gina
Fino, on Mr. Darrell Shepherd, 55, of Chelan. It was ruled that his cause of
death was from Acute Hematoma of the Chest and Abdomen due to Blunt Impact and
Coagulopathy of Alcoholic Cirrhosis. (Lack of blood clotting properties due
to the cirrhosis of the liver.)
There was no
conclusive evidence to determine if his death was caused by a fall or from being
hit with a thrown object as originally alleged. The autopsy revealed no major
trauma or injuries which would have immediately caused his death. Based on his
poor medical condition it is impossible to determine if the blunt impact played
a role in his death.
The manner of death is
being classified as undetermined.
