Chelan County Sheriff(CCSD) - Chelan
County Sheriff
Mike Harum reports
he was recently elected
to two (2) top positions in the State.
Last
week Sheriff Harum was elected to the position of Secretary Treasurer for the
Washington Association of County Officials (WACO). The
membership of the Washington Association of County Officials (WACO) includes
elected county assessors, auditors, clerks, coroners and medical examiners,
prosecuting attorneys, sheriffs, treasurers and comparable appointed officials
in charter counties.
WACO is comprised of affiliate organizations for
every county official in Washington's 39 counties. These affiliate
associations meet throughout the year, bringing colleagues together to discuss
issues of common interest and to exchange ideas and opinions. WACO provides
legislative representation; education and training; informational publications;
day-to-day assistance concerning a wide variety of issues of importance to
counties; local, state, and federal agency liaison; an annual conference for
training and to develop a legislative package; affiliate support; and other
forums in which to develop ideas and build
consensus.
In
November Sheriff Harum was elected to the Board of Trustees of the Washington
Association of Sheriff’s and Police Chiefs (WASPC). This position is a
leadership position as well representing the entire membership of Sheriff’s and
Police Chiefs in the State.
The
Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs (WASPC) was founded in 1963
and consists of executive and top management personnel from law enforcement
agencies statewide. The membership includes sheriffs, police chiefs, the
Washington State Patrol, the Washington Department of Corrections, and
representatives of a number of federal agencies. WASPC is governed by its
executive board.
WASPC is the only association of its kind in the nation
combining representatives from local, state, tribal, and federal law enforcement
into a single body, working toward a common goal.
WASPC's function is to
provide specific materials and services to all law enforcement agencies in the
state, members and non-members alike. The 1975 legislature made WASPC a legal
entity designating the association as "combination of units of local government"
(RCW 36.28A.010).
