Chelan County Sheriff (CCSD) - Chelan County Sheriff Mike Harum reports on March 18, 2008 at approximately 9:50 p.m., Chelan County Sheriff’s deputies, along with Chelan County Fire District 9 and Cascade Ambulance were dispatched to a structure fire at 18728 Fir Loop Road in the LakeWenatchee area.  Units were advised there were possibly two residents inside the structure.

Chelan County Fire District 9 units arrived and advised one subject had escaped the residence.  The subject was transported to Central Washington Hospital for smoke inhalation and burns, and was later airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The fire was eventually extinguished, and the second resident was found deceased inside. Chelan County Coroner Wayne Harris was on scene when the body was located.  Identity of the victims is being withheld until next of kin are notified. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
