Details for Manson Apple Blossom PDF Print E-mail

ImageManson,WA(MVT) - Several details of putting on the 88TH  Manson Apple Blossom Festival were taken care of at a meeting chaired by Jama England on Monday, April 28th.

One of the most important “details” is getting folks into downtown Manson to enjoy the Festival Day!  With just one main road leading into town, that sometimes presents a problem.  The committee has been working with the Chelan County Sheriffs staff to ensure people an easy in and out of the Village by the Bay.

If you are coming out to the Parade early, BEFORE 8:30 am, the normal direct route along Highway 150 will be accessible.  Parking will be available at the North ShoreBible Church and the adjacent Leffler Field.  When those two areas fill up, traffic will be shunted off at the intersection of Highway 150 and Wapato Lake Road(past the Casino).

It's a big job staging the Festival every year and Jama England has served several times as chairperson. This year is no exception, she has organized all the different committees to put forth one of the best festivals ever and has even had the cooperation of the weatherman to have the trees to bloom in time to offer a most scenic celebration of their annual arrival!
There will be signs pointing to Lloyd Road and then to Green Avenue, which is the easiest access to downtown coming from Chelan.  Lots of parking is available along the streets north and west of town.

Senior citizens who get a special pass, will be able to access Leffler field and park their car advantageously to watch the parade seated in comfort.  You might bring lawn chairs as well.   To get a Senior Pass, stop by the Apple Blossom Headquarters in downtown Manson in the building adjacent to Allisons, or in Chelan at the Chamber of Commerce before May 10th.

One of the biggest fund-raisers is the sale of Apple Blossom Buttons.   Graham Thomas designed the 2008 red and gold button depicting “Golden Glamour”.  For one $3.00 purchase, the holder is entitled to free entrance to the Quilt Show, the Pageant, and Queens Ball.   Buttons are available in Manson at Headquarters, at Manson Bay Market, Buddy’s, Allisons, Lake Chelan Building Supply prior to the Festival and at each venue the day of the Festival.  In Chelan, they are available at Max’s Hair Factory, Culinary Apple, and Chamber of Commerce.  Landee Ward and her committee have been busy hand making the buttons now for several weeks and promise to have plenty on hand Festival Day.

Things are a-buzzin’ around Manson these last few days and with the blossoms getting ready to burst open…even they might be in peak bloom for excellent viewing during this 2008 “Golden Glamour” Festival!
