ImageLake Chelan welcomes classic cars and hot rods at CruiZin Chelan on June 6th and 7th

Chelan,WA (LCCC) - Visitors can step back in time when classic cars and hot rods line the streets of downtown Chelan during the 2008 CruiZin Chelan Classic Car Show on June 6th and 7th. The Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce presents this annual two-day event in partnership with sponsors SunnyFM and GoLakeChelan.com.

“It’s a fun weekend for everyone. Given the beautiful backdrop of the lake, Chelan seems a natural place to host a classic car show,” said Executive Director Mike Steele.

CruiZin Chelan has broad public appeal due to the wide range of activities offered. Car enthusiasts can participate in classic car events that include an all-city cruise, show-n-shine and poker run. Non car buffs will enjoy the street dance with popular rock n’ roll band Indy Nile, a community stage and activities for all ages.

On June 6, Lake Chelan Winery sponsors registration and a BBQ for participants (12-4pm). Participants will take an all-city cruise at 5pm. Then from 6-9pm, Woodin Avenue will be lined with classic cars and hot rods from all years during the Historic Downtown Chelan Association’s First Friday event. The public is invited to ‘rock-n-roll to the oldies’ at the street dance (7-10pm) also on June 6.  Activities scheduled for June 7 include a show-n-shine, poker walk, valve cover races, community stage, prizes and activities for all ages (10am-4pm).  An awards ceremony will take place on June 7 from 5-8pm at Lake Chelan Winery with music, wine and dinner.

CruiZin Chelan is in its second year of existence. Last year the event attracted over 1,000 people. Event organizers expect 2,500 visitors during the weekend of June 6th this year. Other activities expected to attract tourists that weekend include the Wally Peterson Memorial Fly-in as well as the grand celebration of a major renovation at Campbell’s Resort.

Nestled in the North Cascades National Forest, the Chelan Valley encompasses the communities of Chelan, Manson, and remote Stehekin.  Lake Chelan is a pristine, 50.5 mile glacier-fed lake that is the third deepest in the US. Apple orchards and vineyards surround the area, and there is an abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities. The town of Chelan sports upscale boutiques, gift stores, restaurants and shops that line a pedestrian-friendly shopping district.
