hdca139Historic Downtown Chelan Association (HDCA) is pleased to announce the hiring of Chelan native, Jessie Simmons, who will return to the valley to serve as Executive Director of HDCA. In the role, she will work with the HDCA Board of Directors as they continue their mission to develop and promote the historic core of Chelan while emphasizing enhancement and preservation of local historical features.

Since graduating from Washington State University in 2007, Simmons spent seven years in Portland working at advertising agency Wieden+Kennedy. In her time at Wieden+Kennedy, she worked across various departments, including account management, public relations and recruiting. She and her husband, Allan, who was also born and raised in Chelan, spent an additional year working and living in Costa Rica.

Simmons says that after eight years away, she and Allan are excited to return home. “We always knew we wanted to move home eventually,” said Simmons. "I learned about the opportunity with the HDCA and it felt like a perfect match. It will allow me to utilize my professional background while promoting my favorite place on earth. I’ve enjoyed the work HDCA has done over the years, and I’m eager to help keep that momentum going.”

“Jessie was our natural choice to serve as Executive Director of HDCA,” according to incoming HDCA President, Adam Rynd.  “She has a great professional background and her passion for making Chelan better while preserving our historic downtown were very attractive to our Board of Directors.”

Simmons will officially start in the Executive Director role in May.
