On March 3 and 4 Manson High School seniors and ten Chelan Valley businesses will participate in the 12th Annual Mock Interview program in the old gym at Manson High School. The Mock Interview program has proven successful over the years providing students important life skills.  Not only do they learn the art of interviewing, they also learn how to write cover letters, resumes, thank you letters and networking; all important life skills.

Over the past few months students have been educated on several life skills that will give them a definite advantage when they hit the job market. Lead teacher Jen Koth schooled students on how to write a cover letter and resume that will lead to an interview. Students learned the importance of first-impressions and the art of networking. And to bring it all together they learned how to interview.

Learning to interview well is not a skill just to find a job but rather a skill that can be used throughout one’s entire life. Students learn that being prepared is the key to a successful interview. Many of the students at this year’s mock interviews will be offered summer jobs and several students will follow up with perspective employers.

This week Mrs.Koth contacted Mock Interview participating employers with the following information:

“Students are in preparation for the March 3rd and 4th mock interview’s at MHS.  Students are currently putting their final touches on their resume, cover letters and applications which I will mail to you early this week.  When you receive the packet, please peruse them prior to the interview as the written piece should be part of the interview overall.

Please arrive at the main office and check in with Mr. Little, our secretary, at 8am.  You will then be led to the old gym where light refreshments and further instructions await.  Again, depending on your interviewing strategies, each student takes about 15-20 minutes.”
