Douglas solid waste logoEAST WENATCHEE, WASHINGTON – Douglas County Solid Waste is pleased to announce a free Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event, inviting all residents in Douglas County to safely dispose of hazardous materials. This event will take place on Saturday, April 20, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 110 2nd Street NE in East Wenatchee.

Household hazardous waste, including pesticides, fluorescent light bulbs, batteries, and motor oil can pose risks to people and the environment if not properly disposed of. This event provides an opportunity for residents to dispose of such materials responsibly.

Residents, regardless of whether they live within city or town limits, are welcome to participate in the collection event. Proof of residency, such as a driver’s license or utility bill displaying the individual’s name and address, will be required to participate. There is no cost for residents to participate, but donations will be accepted.

Trained staff will be present to safely collect and handle all hazardous materials. All containers must be 5 gallons or less and have their original labels intact. Participants are requested to carefully secure and transport materials to the event.

There are no tickets for this event; participation is on a first come, first served basis. There will be traffic control in place for lines with on-site staff to assist and answer any questions.
