Waterville, WA -The Big Bend Round-Up is proud to announce the launch of its first-ever Rodeo Queen Program, with the inaugural Big Bend Round-Up Rodeo Queen Pageant scheduled for February 28, 2026. This historic addition marks an exciting new chapter for one of North Central Washington’s most beloved rodeo traditions.
For generations, rodeo queens have played a vital role in preserving and promoting western heritage. Far more than a crown and sash, a rodeo queen serves as an ambassador for the sport, a spokesperson for agriculture and rural values, and a visible leader within the community. Rodeo queens represent their rodeo and fair at parades, school visits, civic events, and regional celebrations, while promoting horsemanship, sportsmanship, and the western way of life.
The Big Bend Round-Up Rodeo Queen will proudly represent the rodeo throughout the year, embodying professionalism, confidence, and dedication to community service. Contestants will be evaluated on areas such as horsemanship, public speaking, poise, personality, and knowledge of rodeo and western culture.
“This program is about honoring tradition while investing in the future,” said Carolyn Morley, NCW Fair Manager. “Rodeo royalty helps tell the story of the sport, our history, and our values. We are incredibly excited to open our first royalty program and invite young women to step forward as ambassadors for the Big Bend Round-Up and the NCW Fair.”
The Big Bend Round-Up, held annually at the North Central Washington Fairgrounds in Waterville, has deep roots in the region’s agricultural and rodeo history. Originally connected to the Douglas County Industrial Exposition, the rodeo has been a staple of the NCW Fair for more than a century, featuring classic rodeo events, horse racing, and Indian relay races. It remains a cornerstone of summer tradition in North Central Washington.
The launch of the Rodeo Queen Program reflects the continued growth and evolution of the Big Bend Round-Up and the NCW Fair, while staying true to the values of western heritage, youth leadership, and community pride.
