On August 26th, 2017 area law enforcement agencies sponsored a “Run With the Cops” event to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics.
Law enforcement officers ran with the athletes, their families, and supporters. Adults ran a 5K and kids had an option of a 2K course. The event was well attended and it was a great opportunity for deputies, officers and troopers to have positive interaction with the public.
I tip my hat to the officers who actually ran in their gun belts. Mine tips the scales at 24 pounds, so I opted for traffic control. The organizers, which included many volunteers, did an excellent job managing the event.

The fourth Planning Advisory Committee (PAC) meeting for the Pangborn Memorial Airport Master Plan (Plan) will be held on July 20, 2017. The Plan serves as a roadmap for identifying the orderly development of Airport facility, equipment, and service needs necessary to meet existing and future Airport demands. The Plan will identify 20-year capital improvements as envisioned by the Airport, in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) guidance and that complement community interests.
PAC Meeting #4 will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2017, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Wild Rivers Inn / Sports Bar and Grill (560 Valley Mall Parkway, East Wenatchee, WA). PAC Meeting #4 will focus on Airport Alternatives and the initial Project Implementation Plan.
Presentation information from PAC Meeting #4 will be posted to the Airport’s Master Plan web page following the meeting (https://www.flywenatchee.com/master-plan/). The Master Plan web page also includes links to the prior Plan documentation, including ‘draft’ working paper materials, announcements, and other information on how to provide public input.
